A weekend in KC

Since Michael and I both had Friday off, we left that morning for Kansas City. We went straight to the KC Zoo. It was the perfect day to go since there weren’t very many people there! And since the zoo is so spread out it wasn’t crowded at all. The thing that sucked was it was really, really hot. Oh well…we drank lots of water, ate popscicles and played in the misters they had set up all over the place!
On the road...
A Meerkat...
Baby zebra...brown stripes will turn black eventually...
Popscicles are yummy!!
Riding a camel...
Connor and a lorikeet...
When we got to the hotel we had planned on going swimming, but we were all so exhausted we just hung out in our nice air conditioned suite! :-)

Since Kylie’s decided she wants to be a paleantologist, Saturday was dubbed Dinosaur Day. We went to Science City in Union Station where they had all kinds of things for the kids (and us!!) to do and play with. From animals to making music, landing the Space Shuttle to a house of illusions, playing golf to digging for dinosaur bones we were never bored! The reason we went there was because of the Dino Lab, but really other than digging for bones, the lab itself wasn’t too exciting. Good thing the rest of it was!!
Making Music...
Copper dino head...
K and the fish she and I dug up...
Flying the Space Shuttle...
After Science City, we went to the T Rex restaurant. It was built by the same people who built the Rainforest Café. There was a huge 2 story T Rex right when we walked in the door. There was a place to dig for more bones, pan for gems or fossils, and walk thru a cave with bats. The kids each built a dinosaur (like build-a-bear, but it was build-a-dino) and then we wandered around the restaurant looking at all the cool stuff and ate some pretty good food. There were giant jellyfish, a giant octopus, an ice age room with snow covered wooly mammoths and meteor showers every 30 minutes.
Digging in the Paleo area...
Giant octopus...
Stuffing new dinosaurs...
K and the triceratops...
By the time we got back to the hotel Michael and I were completely dinosaured out!! But the kids were happy and that’s the most important part!! I posted tons more photos on Flickr of our weekend. Go check them out and lemme know what you think!!

Oh…I forgot to post this earlier. How cool am I with my snazzy certificate that says I completed call center training?! LOL!! I’m sure I’ll be framing this and putting it above the fireplace…I joined Facebook. It’s totally addicting and fun and I’ve found lots of my friends from my childhood as well as college. There are also some new friends on there. I love it!!!!! Love it!! Flair rocks!!

It’s hot here. Real hot. Damn hot. It’s 98 with a heat index of 106. We’re living in a cave right now…all the blinds and curtains are closed. None of the lights are on. We’re not going anywhere today. The dog doesn’t even wanna go outside! Happy August!!!

LOL! I call that "STUPID HOT". Sorry it's so miserable! We are around 95 but we have some clouds so it's a little more humid than "normal". All I know is I spend LOTS of time INDOORS! LOL!
