Randomness

Some random stuff...
Went to our local zoo last weekend. The weather was so perfect and nice and cool and not humid! The kids had to get wet regardless. Go figure.
Here they are in one of the misters...
And here at the "jumping jewels" fountain...
Even the elephants were getting wet...
Free ride...
Hello cute critter...C loves the tiger statue...
I love waterlilies...
The lions love each other...So worn out... A couple of Kylie opening presents on her birthday...
A cool microscope for the future paleantologist...
Friday, K came home with a note from her teacher saying they were going to study families this week and that we needed to send a family picture to school. That made me realize we haven't had a family shot taken since who knows when. Like 2004?? Not good! So, out came the tripod and camera. Got the required shots...
Then got a lot of silly shots (I'm not including the ones where they both said "Mommy, take a picture of our butts!")...
And a super cute shot. Hmmm...could this be this year's xmas card???
To add to the randomness of this post, here's a tiger swallowtail on clover in the backyard...
If you haven't already, go sign up for Facebook!! I love finding old friends and reconnecting with people I haven't seen in ages! I'll post more about all that later!

Party Photos

We had Kylie's birthday party yesterday at the Ted E. Bear Factory in Springfield. There were 7 kids from Kylie's kindergarten class who came (kinda like a little reunion!) and they each got to make an animal (kinda like Build-a-Bear, but this place has a party room where our B-a-B in the mall doesn't).
Best bday party place ever because:
1. Michael and I didn't have to do anything but dish out cake and take photos.
2. It was inside so it was nice and cool.
3. No goody bags were needed since everyone got to make a stuffed animal.
Some shots from the party...
Care Bear Cake...
Kylie and the panda she named Crayon...
Logan and his panda named Po...Leah and her sheep Rosie...
Kylie and Leah...
D'arrica and her pink bunny named Ashley...
Ella and her kitty Marley...
Connor and his elephant Peckle Pickle...
Eden and Tom the leopard...
Nancy and Brownie the horse...
Meredith and Hannah the panda...
Crazy girls...
Blowing out the candle...
Cake-faced...
Last group shot...

Tomorrow's Kylie's actual birthday. We're taking blueberry muffins to school for snack. That was as close as they'd let me get to bringing cupcakes. I'll post again tomorrow if I get the time before I have to go to work!

First day of first grade

It's really weird Kylie started school today. It's only August 15th, people!! I'd say the summer went by so quickly, but really since it's still summer, I guess I should say summer vacation went by so quickly. Anyway...here are some photos for you...
Kylie with her new teacher, Mrs. Baker. This was taken yesterday at "meet the teacher" night...
This morning...
New Kung Fu Panda backpack...
Walking to her new room with Connor in tow...
At her desk...
Apparently the first day of first grade went great. It helped that 4 of the kids from Kylie's kindergarten class are in her class this year.
After we dropped K off, Connor and I went to Sonic...
and then we went to visit the neighbors' new puppy Kira (who looks a lot like Gypsy when she was a puppy!)...
This afternoon I went back up to Nathanael Greene Park in Springfield just to shoot some photos. Nothing too exciting except for the 3 monarchs I saw flittering around.
Some flower buds that I liked because they're swirly...
Male monarch on blazing star...
I love color coordination!!! Yellow clouded sulphur on an orange flower who's name escapes me...what the hell is it?????
I've never seen a brown praying mantis before...
Mexican Sunflower...
I just watched Michael Phelps win his 7th gold medal in this olympics. So very exciting!! If I could find a photo online somewhere I'd post it here, but there's nothing up so far. Probably tomorrow. And I don't know about you, but I got teary-eyed while watching the medal ceremony. And how cool was it our women went 1-2 in the gymnastics all around?! YAY for US!
Tomorrow we're having Kylie's birthday party at the Ted E. Bear Factory in Springfield. Should be lots of fun and I'll definitely post some photos of that big event!!
Now I've gotta go get the future paleantologist into bed. She's wide awake down here with me telling me all about dinosaurs. More stuff tomorrow! :-)

Did you see it?

Did you watch it? Did you see our men win gold in the 4 x 100m freestyle relay? Did you see them kill the world record? Were you screaming as loud as I was? Were you jumping up and down when Jason Lezak hit the wall?

Man, I love the Olympics! Congrats to these fast swimmin' boys!

08-08-08

8 has been my favorite number for as long as I can remember. I don't know why or how I chose it...it's just always been my fave, so today being 08-08-08 is really cool for me!!! The Olympics start tonight. Raiders play the 49ers tonight. I have to work tonight. :-P Wish I didn't have to work, but it'll be a good night regardless!!!

Happy 8 day!!!!!!!!!
